I have always loved pottery. I bought lots of pottery and was entranced by watching people work on the wheel. It always seems like magic to me, how from a lump of clay and a wheel a pot can take shape. I wanted so much to be able to do that.
I started potting about 15 years ago as a way to deal with a difficult event in my life. I took classes and was able to pot only once per week for most of those years. I moved on to various classes and studios and when I heard about the potters studio, it was like a dream for me. I patiently waited on the waiting list for almost 3 years and finally became a member in 2003. I love the facilities, the people and the concept of it being a co-op.
While I love hand built pieces and find their organic nature very appealing, I am essentially a wheel based potter. I guess that the magic of the wheel is still there. My time at the studio is always a time of peacefulness and creativity.
